So you have decided on that latest #fashionforyourfloor but what underlay to use?

Well there are so many on the market that this can be very confusing for you. So once again we here to help cut that confusion.  Firstly we can discount all those underfloor heating underlays (unless you have underfloor heating, of course! ;) - blog on that soon!

What room is the underlay being used in? This is very important. If it is a low traffic use room ie a bedroom then the most ideal underlay is a recycled foam underlay. Made using reclaimed sponges and foam etc. This gives you a light, soft, delicate and warm feel under foot.

Now for those high traffic areas. We are talking about the Hall, Lounge and main through rooms. At Archway Carpets we use a rubber crumb underlay. Again this is recycled with 82% of the product made from reclaimed car tyres. So for each 1sqmtr of this underlay the rubber from 1 car tyre is used. Just think how many tyres are reused throughout your home when you use this underlay. 

The benefits of this underlay are a firm base for your carpet. Meaning a prolonged life for your new flooring. A firm under foot feeling gives the assured sense of quality to you and your visitors.

Local Business Seminar

On Tuesday 10th May, it was a pleasure to attend the first Avanti Business Seminar for the Ipswich and surrounding area. The team at Avanti will be starting meetings in Bury St Edmunds. With over 30 other SME's and Local business people we were treated to informative presentations covering everything from Employment to HMRC, Marketing plans to Social Media presence. With the opportunity to network meeting with other like minded business people. The ever wonderful Suzanne MacDonald Carr speaking about how planning and coaching and help your business. Speeding through her talk on websites and Social Media in only the way Sam Parnell can from Measured Brilliance.  Michelle Pollard, The Fairy Jobmother from Spider on how to recruit in this candidate lead recruitment market.  

Victoria Sharp from Avanti Tax Accountants making the latest HMRC rules a joy (well almost) to listen to! Michael Hodgetts from Lighthouse Platinum discussions the ways to protect your business if the worst was to happen. The legal advice from Marie Allen representing Gotelee solicitors covering employees and contracts.

Our New #Carpet Rep, Gary

It is both a sad yet exciting story for Gary. He was the last prize in the raffle. The sad and lonely bear was over looked by many a winner of the raffle at the Marshall & Hatchick, Coastal Connections networking event at The Galley in Woodbridge. Gary had been tossed away from his home. His previous owner had grown up and no longer need him. So he found himself needing somewhere to live and employment.

It was lucky that Darrell from Archway Carpets was there and he brought the raffle tickets in aid of Headway, Suffolk. Gary was picked by Darrell and instantly the Story of Gary The #Carpet Rep started.  Gary will be giving you the latest #fashionforyourfloor updates and will be passing on his #carpet knowledge.

Now you know with us at Archway Carpets will love our Fashion and our Hashtag #fashionforyourfloor Is creating that feel for you. One of our fantastic suppliers is Desso. At Desso they use a huge range of materials to create carpets for a wide sector. From Businesses like Basepoint to Airlines like KLM. One of Desso's ethos is to recycle and have the cradle to cradle programme. In this video Desso used KLM's old airline staff's uniform, which they recycled into the new carpet for the launch of the new Business Class.  Truly the whole concept behind us using the tag  #fashionforyourfloor There are much bigger ideas behind your flooring.

We would like to wish the Queen a fantastic "Happy Birthday" so with the #queenat90 trending at the moment. We thought what better why to celebrate than showing you the great Carnaby carpet from Brockway Carpets. They are one of our selected suppliers. This wool based carpet is a loop pile carpet with the Red, White and Blue from the Union Jack.

Wool Floor Show London March 2016

The first Ever Wool Floor Show London #WoolFSL www.woolfloorshow.co.uk  The Event was held at Chelsea FC, Stamford Bridge, www.chelseafc.com.

The event is designed to showcase the benefits of buying wool rugs and carpets. The main board behind the scheme is Wool Carpets #Naturally www.woolcarpetsnaturally.org

With over 25 wool carpet retailer’s show casing their products and launching new ranges. Just some of the companies on show were our bestselling suppliers. Brockway www.brockway.co.uk

The main focus of the show was to highlight that benefits of wool to customers with the environmental benefits to the use of wool too. This is fully backed by The Campaign for Wool, and these are endorsed by HRH The Prince of Wales the organisations patron. www.campaignforwool.org.

We found our hashtag #fashionforyourfloor to be ideal as the manufactures are promotion interiors style and fashion.  With mood boards and colour swatches being used to design colour schemes for the home.

Ipswich Mayor’s Annual Charity Ball

On Saturday 19th March Darrell and Vicki attended the Mayor’s Charity Ball in aid of two local Charities, Suffolk Mind and Ipswich Hospital Maternity ward, critical care unit. Held in the Grand Hall within the Town Hall in Ipswich. 260 guests, from the local community, services and local businesses. 

The evening was a time to relax and enjoy time with friends and colleagues.  Darrell provided the red carpet to welcome guests to the event. The HiRED CARPET service was donated to the event. On our table were the Team from Polka Dot Chair Covers, Kelly also dressed the room with chair covers and match sashes. Josh Seager from Genr8 shopping scheme, Katie and Andrew Haywood – Farmer owners of All Manor of Events also joined us for the evening.
Charlie Dalton from Smart Garden offices was also on our table and we were talking about his fantastic offices with some exciting new designs on the way.  We also saw Soo Smart from Fusion with her friend Elene Marsden wearing one of her preloved chica outfits. Sue Hall from Maid 2 Clean was also at the event.

The Auction was full of donated items from local businesses the star item was a cruise from Fred Olsen Cruises. Other items included ITFC tickets and donations from the East of England CO –OP. 

The evening’s entertainment was of the highest quality with ball room dancing display from the Ipswich School of dance and MJ Soul singing the night away. The performance of the night went to the outstanding local acrobat and her show of skill.
